Smokey Valley Farm started out as a country retreat for Bob’s grandparents back in 1907. The farm house was ordered from a Sears and Roebuck catalog and delivered to town by train in Olive Hill. There it was picked up by a mule-drawn wagon and brought to this beautiful valley and constructed. The farmhouse is a turn of the century victorian-style home that has seen many family gatherings over the years.
Bob is a seventh-generation Kentuckian and is proud of his heritage. At a very early age Bob acquired a love for horses.
The property on which the farm house stands includes a thirty-stall barn, a round pen, a riding ring, and a chapel.
Jane was raised in New York City and later moved to Palm Beach, Florida. It was when Jane moved to Scottsdale, Arizona that they met and joined forces in Kentucky. Jane had previously owned quarter horses when she lived in Florida and lived in an equestrian community. Together they raise, breed and show the Smokey Valley Horses.
Jane is also an author and wrote a book about horses and their travel adventures out west as a couple. The name of her book is, “Life is All About Range”, and is available on Amazon.
Together Jane and Bob Coleman share their passion for horses as well as their country lifestyle with the two places for rent on their property through airbnb and VRBO.
